Lupin Limited has launched Formoflo-G® MDI, a fixed-dose triple-combination metered-dose inhaler (MDI) for the long-term management and treatment of moderate to severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in India, following approval from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI).

According to Lupin, Formoflo-G® MDI is the world’s first fixed-dose triple-combination MDI for COPD. The product combines glycopyrronium bromide, formoterol fumarate and fluticasone propionate in a single inhaler. It is available as a twice-daily, single-strength fixed-dose formulation.

The launch expands Lupin’s respiratory portfolio and provides an additional fixed-dose treatment option for appropriate patients with COPD who require triple therapy.

Triple Combination Provides a Single-Inhaler Treatment Option

Formoflo-G® MDI brings together three established therapies in a single inhaler: glycopyrronium bromide, formoterol fumarate and fluticasone propionate.

Glycopyrronium and formoterol act as bronchodilators to help open the airways, while fluticasone propionate is an inhaled corticosteroid that helps reduce airway inflammation. Together, the three components provide bronchodilator and anti-inflammatory treatment within a single fixed-dose formulation.

The combination therefore provides a single-inhaler option for appropriate patients with moderate to severe COPD who require triple therapy.

Formoflo-G® MDI Targets Moderate to Severe COPD

COPD is a chronic respiratory condition associated with persistent airflow limitation and remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality. According to Lupin, more than 55 million people in India are living with COPD.

Lupin positions Formoflo-G® MDI as an option for appropriate patients with moderate to severe disease requiring triple therapy. The twice-daily formulation combines all three active ingredients in a single inhaler.

The launch announcement does not provide clinical efficacy or safety data for Formoflo-G® MDI. Therefore, comparative efficacy, adherence benefits or clinical outcome advantages should not be inferred from the product launch alone.

Launch Expands Lupin’s Respiratory Portfolio

The launch further strengthens Lupin’s presence in the Indian respiratory therapy segment. According to IQVIA MAT March 2026 data, Lupin was ranked No. 2 in the respiratory therapy segment in India.

Nilesh Gupta, Managing Director, Lupin, said the launch reflects the company’s focus on addressing unmet patient needs through differentiated and accessible therapies for respiratory diseases.

Rajeev Sibal, President – India Region Formulations, Lupin, highlighted Formoflo-G® MDI as an addition to the company’s respiratory portfolio that brings three established therapies together in a single inhaler. He said the launch expands access to fixed-dose triple therapy for COPD and supports Lupin’s focus on respiratory treatments in India.

With Formoflo-G® MDI, Lupin is expanding its fixed-dose respiratory treatment portfolio in India with a triple-combination MDI for appropriate patients with moderate to severe COPD.
