Fortrea has introduced Fortrea Intelligent Technology (FIT), a new suite of technology solutions designed to improve efficiency and oversight across clinical trial operations. The platform integrates persona-driven, AI-powered tools that automate workflows, streamline trial management, and support faster, more predictable study execution for sponsors, investigator sites, and project teams.

Integrated Technology Suite for Clinical Development

FIT builds on existing Fortrea offerings, including the Xcellerate platform, while adding newly developed tools that connect processes across the clinical trial ecosystem. The suite supports biopharma, biotech, and medical device development programs across clinical pharmacology and clinical development activities. It can be deployed in full-service or functional service models, with selected components available as software-as-a-service.

FIT is organized into three functional pillars:

  • Lifecycle: Solutions designed to accelerate trial progression from pre-award activities to final electronic trial master file (eTMF), with automation of key operational steps.
  • Foresight: Data-driven tools that provide trend analysis, dashboards, and near-real-time insights to support decision-making and risk mitigation.
  • Companion: AI-powered applications built around user roles to enhance productivity, collaboration, and study execution.

Executive Perspective on AI-Driven Trial Operations

Chief Information Officer Alejandro Martinez Galindo said the platform combines advances in clinical trial methodology with modern technology. He noted that FIT was developed using sponsor and investigator feedback and is intended to help stakeholders conduct trials more efficiently while reducing operational risk.

Xcellerate Platform Forms the Foundation

The FIT suite is anchored by Fortrea’s Xcellerate platform, which supports risk-based quality management, central monitoring, and trial oversight. Recent enhancements provide role-based insights by integrating data across the trial environment. Embedded AI and machine learning capabilities analyze patterns, generate predictive signals, and initiate automated workflows to reduce manual effort.

Chief Operating Officer and President of Clinical Development Mark Morais stated that the enhancements aim to strengthen collaboration and responsiveness across study teams. He emphasized that responsible use of AI within FIT can help accelerate decision-making and improve the delivery of clinical research programs.

Fortrea said it plans to expand the FIT portfolio with additional technology solutions in future releases.
