Tata Elxsi and Terumo Corporation inaugurate a new Offshore Development Center to advance cardiac and vascular medical technologies through engineering, AI-driven innovation, and global lifecycle support.

Tata Elxsi and Terumo Corporation have inaugurated the Terumo–Tata Elxsi Offshore Development Center (ODC), a dedicated facility aimed at accelerating the development of cardiac and vascular medical technologies for global markets. The new center will support engineering, innovation, and lifecycle management of Terumo’s cardiovascular solutions while strengthening product development capabilities across international healthcare systems.
The Offshore Development Center will bring together multidisciplinary teams combining Tata Elxsi’s expertise in product design, engineering, verification and validation, regulatory compliance, and localization. The collaboration will also integrate AI, generative AI (GenAI), and digital engineering capabilities to enhance software development, enabling faster product innovation and adaptation to regional regulatory and clinical requirements.
By leveraging advanced engineering and digital technologies, the center aims to support the development of patient-centric cardiac and vascular medical devices with improved performance, cost efficiency, and product differentiation. The initiative is expected to strengthen the reliability and scalability of Terumo’s cardiovascular technologies while ensuring compliance with evolving global medical device standards.
Fumihisa Hirose, Company President of the Cardiac & Vascular Company at Terumo Corporation, said the new center will enhance the company’s ability to innovate and deliver high-quality medical technologies worldwide. He noted that Tata Elxsi’s integrated capabilities in design, engineering, and regulatory expertise will help accelerate Terumo’s global product roadmap while maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.
Sreevatsa Sahasranaman, Senior Vice President and Head of Healthcare & Life Sciences at Tata Elxsi, described the initiative as a long-term partnership model designed to support innovation across Terumo’s cardiovascular portfolio. He added that Tata Elxsi will combine its multidisciplinary engineering and regulatory capabilities with AI- and GenAI-powered technologies to help Terumo bring next-generation medical devices to both global and emerging markets.
